During his inspection tour in Guizhou from March 17 to 18, 2025, General Secretary Xi Jinping clearly stated: 'Guizhou must resolve to forge ahead, bravely explore, take the real economy as the foundation, strengthen innovation-driven development, coordinate the transition between old and new growth drivers, and accelerate the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries.' This important instruction has charted the course for Qianxinan’s health and pharmaceutical industry. Today, this region is spearheading transformation through 'smart' innovation and breaking new ground through 'expansion'.

Qianxinan Buyei and Miao Autonomous Prefecture has actively responded to the call, striving to elevate its health and pharmaceutical industry to new heights. By deeply integrating process upgrading with smart manufacturing, the prefecture has comprehensively enhanced the industry’s overall competitiveness. Leveraging the Red Star Pharmaceutical Industrial Park as a key platform, it vigorously attracts upstream and downstream enterprises in the health and pharmaceutical industrial chain to cluster and develop. At present, Qianxinan has initially built an industrial cluster covering pharmaceutical preparation processing, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) decoction pieces, TCM plasters, and health food production, with an increasingly sound industrial ecosystem.
Enterprises in Qianxinan are taking proactive steps amid the industrial upgrading wave. A typical example is Guizhou Tiandi Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., located in the Red Star Pharmaceutical Industrial Park, Mulong Subdistrict, Xingyi City. Recently, the company’s three small-volume injection production lines have been under intense construction, entering the equipment installation phase. This technical transformation project, specially designed for export product manufacturing, integrates multiple advantages such as intelligence, digitalization, and environmental sustainability.

'For instance, in our liquid preparation workshop, the technical transformation adopts an intelligent weighing system, which is more rational and compliant,' explained Liu Xiangdong, Director of the Engineering Department at Guizhou Tiandi Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. 'Compared with the traditional use of platform scales, this reduces human error. In addition, for workshop disinfection, we plan to use robots to conduct comprehensive sterilization. This not only cuts labor costs but also minimizes errors.'

In recent years, the pharmaceutical industry has been affected by multiple factors, including low-level redundant construction and national healthcare system reform policies, leading to prominent internal competition and friction, and putting considerable pressure on enterprise development. Faced with these challenges, Guizhou Tiandi Pharmaceutical promptly adjusted its development strategy, setting its sights on overseas markets, especially the Global South. The enterprise has successively obtained GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) certifications from countries such as Yemen, Ethiopia, and Nigeria, with nearly 70 products registered and filed overseas. In 2025, the enterprise’s output value reached nearly 300 million yuan, with exports contributing over 80% of the total.
