【Dosage and Administration】

Intramuscular injection, adult, 1 day 0.025～0.1mg or every other day 0.05～0.2mg. For neural inflammation, the dosage may be increased appropriately. This product can also be used for acupoint blockade.

Adverse Reactions

Intramuscular injection may occasionally cause rash, itching, diarrhea, and allergic asthma, but the incidence is low, with very rare cases of allergic shock.

Pharmacology and Toxicology

This product is an anti-anemia drug. VitaminB₁₂ participates in methylation and folate metabolism in the body, promoting the conversion of 5-methyl tetrahydrofolate into tetrahydrofolate. A deficiency leads to DNA synthesis disorders, affecting the maturation of red blood cells. This product also facilitates the conversion of methylmalonic acid to succinic acid, participating in the tricarboxylic acid cycle. This effect is related to the synthesis and maintenance of myelin sheath lipids and the functional integrity of myelinated nerve fibers; the neurological damage from vitaminB₁₂ deficiency may be related to this.

Pharmacokinetics

The absorption after intramuscular injection is rapid and complete, with peak plasma concentration reached in about 1 hour; it has a wide distribution in the body but is mainly stored in the liver, with a total storage in adults of 4～5mg; most is excreted through the kidneys within 8 hours, and the greater the dosage, the more is excreted.
